Arshiya Kapoor

Arshiya is a Graduate in Fashion Design and Post Graduate in Apparel Production and Merchandising Management.

She has worked in industries across India for 10 years and has extensive experience in Product development, Garment Manufacturing Technology and Quality Assurance. She has led with brilliance in her industrial career as Head of Technical and Quality and further excelled as Manager – Factory Operations. She has been a lead Technical auditor and quality analyst for prestigious brands across the United Kingdom and the United States of America for SA 8000, WRAP, Systems and Procedures. Currently, she is the Head of Department for Fashion discipline at MIT Institute of Design, MIT Art, Design and Technology University, Pune. She has been associated with MITID for the last 10 years teaching core courses like – Design Process, Pattern Making / Draping, Construction, Quality and Technical aspects of clothing, Surface development, Material sustainability in Fashion, Slow fashion, and Sewing techniques to name a few.
She has focussed on impacting student success through the development and dissemination of innovative, engaging, and inspiring learning environments utilising authentic assessment activities to motivate and inspire students to enhance their learning outcomes. As head of department she is committed to promoting a faculty culture of mentoring, to create an environment where students can thrive. Arshiya is pursuing her PhD in Visual metaphors in design.
