Honorable Mention 2021 / SPECIAL AWARDS / ARTISTIC FOOTWEAR

Diana 1997

  • Lead Designer
    Deborah Kiwi
  • Expertise
    Independent

Taking Princess Diana through innocence, worship and eventually sacrifice, this footwear addresses obsessive fascination and destruction of that which we idolize. This design represents Diana after her divorce. Freer, more confident and autonomous. The soft shape of the asymmetric, shiny collar gives a feminine, glamorous feeling, just as many love to remember this adored, female icon.

However, it equally plays the mournful, more ominous role of portraying the bronze, static statue that is left behind after the tragic loss of a beloved historical figure.
